--RHP Frankie Francisco reported feeling improvement Wednesday, a day after receiving an injection of anti-inflammatory medication for biceps tendinitis. The soreness he feels now is more from the injection than the original discomfort he had, which is normal. He may throw for the first time in a week on Thursday. The Rangers still have not ruled out the possibility of a disabled-list assignment, however.
--RHP Willie Eyre (groin strain) threw in the bullpen Wednesday and reported feeling pain-free afterward. He is scheduled for another bullpen session Friday and possibly one more before he'd begin a rehab assignment. Eyre has been out since April 23. --RHP Dustin Nippert saw Dr. Andrew Dossett, a spine specialist, and received an epidural injection in his upper back to alleviate continued soreness in the area. The ailment caused him to go on the 60-day disabled list at the start of the start of the season. He may resume his rehab program Friday.
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Frank Francisco (right biceps tendinitis) was unavailable May 12-13. He might try to throw May 14, but he still could end up on the disabled list.
RHP Willie Eyre (right groin strain) went on the 15-day disabled list April 23. He threw a bullpen session May 13 and will throw another May 15.
RHP Dustin Nippert (upper back soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 22. He began a rehab assignment with Class AA Frisco on April 11, but he strained a muscle in his side. He received an epidural injection in mid-May.
RHP Joaquin Benoit (rotator cuff surgery in January 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list April 5. He is out for at least the first half of the season but could miss the entire year.
RHP Eric Hurley (rotator cuff surgery in January 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list April 5. He is out for the year.
