--CF Josh Hamilton was activated from the disabled list Tuesday after the minimum 15 days out while recovering from a strained rib-cage muscle. Hamilton responded with a homer that gave the Rangers the lead for good, a two-run shot in the seventh inning. To make room for Hamilton, the Rangers optioned INF Joaquin Arias to Class AAA Oklahoma City.
--Though 1B Chris Davis extended his streak of games with at least one strikeout to 20, he also hit a homer for the second straight game. Davis has nine homers, tied with DH Hank Blalock for the team lead. Davis also had a single, giving him a second consecutive multi-hit game. It's the first time this year he's had consecutive multi-hit games. --3B Michael Young returned to the lineup after missing the last two games in their entirety and after leaving Friday's game early because of a stiff back. Young had three hits and walked in his other two plate appearances to push his team-leading average to .344.
MEDICAL WATCH:
OF Josh Hamilton (strained left rib-cage muscle) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 27. He played in rehab games for Class AAA Oklahoma on May 10-11, and he was activated May 12.
3B Michael Young (back stiffness) left the May 8 game, and he didn't play May 9-10. He was back in the lineup May 12.
RHP Frank Francisco (right biceps tendinitis) was unavailable May 12, and he won't pitch before May 15. He might end up on the disabled list.
RHP Willie Eyre (right groin strain) went on the 15-day disabled list April 23. He had begun the season on the DL with the same injury.
RHP Dustin Nippert (upper back soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 22. He began a rehab assignment with Class AA Frisco on April 11, but he strained a muscle in his side.
RHP Joaquin Benoit (rotator cuff surgery in January 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list April 5. He is out for at least the first half of the season but could miss the entire year.
RHP Eric Hurley (rotator cuff surgery in January 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list April 5. He is out for the year.
