--2B Ian Kinsler led off the bottom of the first with a home run. It was his second leadoff homer in seven days. Kinsler now has seven leadoff homers for his career.

--DH Hank Blalock was 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position on Friday, including a first-pitch ground out with two outs in the eighth and a runner on third. Blalock has just two hits in his last 13 at-bats with runners in scoring position. The Rangers are 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position over the last two losses.

--OF Nelson Cruz continues to slump after a hot start. Cruz was 0-for-4 Friday to extend his recent skid to four hits in his last 23 at-bats (.173). His batting average has fallen from .298 to .263 in the last week during which time Cruz has struck out six times, walked once and has no extra-base hits.

--OF David Murphy, limited to a pair of pinch-hitting appearances this week because of the abundance of lefties the Rangers have faced, is expected to start on Saturday against RHP Jose Contreras. Contreras is the only right-hander the Rangers are facing on this five-game homestand. Murphy went 3-for-8 in back-to-back starts in Baltimore after starting the season 0-for-23.

--RHP Kris Benson is scheduled to make a rehab start for Class AA Frisco on Sunday after spending the last two weeks on the disabled list. He will likely make at least two starts before returning to the roster.

MEDICAL WATCH:

C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (eye irritation) left the April 30 game and didn't play on May 1.

OF Josh Hamilton (sore ribs) left the April 25 game, and he didn't start April 26-30. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 1, retroactive to April 27.

RHP Kris Benson (right elbow tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 16. He will begin a rehab assignment with Class AA Frisco on May 3.

RHP Willie Eyre (right groin strain) went on the 15-day disabled list April 23. He had begun the season on the DL with the same injury.

RHP Dustin Nippert (upper back soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 22. He began a rehab assignment with Class AA Frisco on April 11, but he strained a muscle in his side.

RHP Joaquin Benoit (rotator cuff surgery in January 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list April 5. He is out for at least the first half of the season but could miss the entire year.

RHP Eric Hurley (rotator cuff surgery in January 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list April 5. He is out for the year.
