Texas Rangers Notes, Quotes 2008-09-22
--The Rangers are 35-53 against teams with winning records this season and 40-28 against teams with losing records.

--1B Hank Blalock, whose three-run, ninth-inning home run provided all the Rangers' scoring Sunday, is hitting .350 over his last 40 at-bats. He's homered four times in that span and driven in 11 runs in an 11-game span.

--SS Michael Young missed consecutive starts over the weekend with a sore and swollen right ring finger. Young twice aggravated a two-month old fracture in the finger during the week. Young needs to play one more game for a seventh-consecutive 150-game season.

--When LHP Bill White walked Gary Matthews Jr. with the bases loaded Saturday, it was the Rangers' 22nd bases-loaded walk of the season, setting a club record (since the stat was tracked in 1974). Only three major league teams have allowed more than 22 since the stat was first tracked.

--INF Ramon Vazquez was ejected Saturday for arguing balls and strikes from the Rangers' dugout, then charged the field to argue with umpire Tom Hallion. He was restrained by manager Ron Washington, who was later ejected for arguing over Vazquez's ejection, and DH Milton Bradley. Vazquez was the third Ranger ejected in a seven-game span. Bradley and C Gerald Laird were ejected the previous weekend at Oakland.

BY THE NUMBERS: 55 -- Number of players used by the Rangers this year, which is a club record, shattering the mark of 52. Brian Gordon, who made his major league debut in a 17-4 loss to Detroit on Wednesday, became No. 55.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's very possible in my career that I'll have another injury like this. I think I will know how to deal with it and get through it. But, having said that, the injuries are no excuse for my performance. I expect to be more productive than I have been." -- SS Michael Young, on dealing with a pair of fractured bones in fingers on each hand that will prevent him from a sixth consecutive season of 200 hits and a batting average of at least .300.
