--RHP Vicente Padilla, who is 5-1 in his career against the A's, will be pushed back to start Thursday's game. Padilla had been scheduled to start Wednesday. The rest of the rotation will simply be pushed back a day as well with nobody being skipped. It could be of particular benefit to RHP Kevin Millwood, who threw 121 pitches in eight innings Tuesday. He will now pitch Monday at Seattle.
--The Rangers won Tuesday for the first time this year without a home run. Texas, however, had been shut out in the homer department on only one other occasion. That's when Kansas City's Zack Greinke shut them out completely 10 days ago. --INF Omar Vizquel entered Sunday's game in the eighth inning as a defensive replacement and became only the third man as old as 42 to play shortstop in the last 100 years. Pittsburgh's Honus Wagner (1916) and Chicago's Luke Appling (1949), both Hall of Famers, both did it. Vizquel turned 42 on Friday.
BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- Ninth-inning homers in a span of five days for 3B Michael Young, each of which either tied the game or gave the Rangers the lead. Young became only the third player to ever hit three homers in the ninth inning or later that tied the game or gave his team the lead in such a short period of time. Damion Easley and Adrian Beltre have also done it, but each of them had an extra-inning homer among their total.
