--RF Nelson Cruz did not start for the first time this season because manager Ron Washington said he saw some signs of fatigue. Cruz, who had five hits in his last 24 at-bats, entered the game as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning. Cruz, 2B Ian Kinsler and 3B Michael Young are the only Rangers to play in all 19 games this season.
--The Rangers don't face Baltimore again until the first week of September, which is unfortunate news for 2B Ian Kinsler. Kinsler went 2-for-3 with a pair of homers against Baltimore LHP Mark Hendrickson on Saturday and is 6-for-7 against Hendrickson with three home runs this season. --INF Omar Vizquel entered the game in the eighth inning Sunday as a defensive replacement and became only the third man as old as 42 to play shortstop in the last 100 years. Pittsburgh's Honus Wagner (1916) and Chicago's Luke Appling (1949), both Hall of Famers, both did it. Vizquel turned 42 on Friday.
BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- Ninth-inning homers in a span of five days for 3B Michael Young, each of which either tied the game or gave the Rangers the lead. Young became only the third player to ever hit three homers in the ninth inning or later that tied the game or gave his team the lead in such a short period of time. Damion Easley and Adrian Beltre have also done it, but each of them had an extra-inning homer among their total.
