--RHP Frank Francisco pitched a perfect ninth inning even though it wasn't a save situation. Since becoming the Rangers' closer late last August, Francisco has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings. He has held hitters to a .104 average and has allowed just four walks while striking out 22. And he's being efficient with pitch counts, averaging just 14.7 pitches per inning. Manager Ron Washington, who is struggling to find a right-handed setup man, said he may consider using Francisco for four- or five-out saves, if necessary.
--LHP C.J. Wilson has the highest ERA -- 4.92 -- among the 53 active players with at least 40 save chances. Wilson, who has been moved to an eighth-inning role this season, was saddled with a blown save for allowing six runs in the eighth inning of Sunday's 6-4 loss to Detroit.
