Texas Rangers Notes, Quotes 2008-12-02
--OF/DH Milton Bradley was offered arbitration by the Rangers, making the team eligible for draft compensation if the free agent signs elsewhere.

--RHP Wes Littleton was traded to Boston for a player to be named or cash considerations. Littleton, 26, had been removed from the Rangers' roster the week before Thanksgiving. Littleton had no record and a 6.02 ERA in 12 games this season. He was 5-3 with a 3.69 ERA in three seasons with the Rangers.

--INF Chris Davis was named the team's Rookie of the Year. Davis, 22, hit .285 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs in 80 games after a June call-up. It's the second-highest home run total for a Rangers rookie in the last 15 years behind Mark Teixeira's 26 in 2003.

--C Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who missed the last month of the season due to elbow issues, hit .435 with four home runs in his first seven games in the Dominican Republic. Saltalamacchia, who has been connected with Boston in potential trade talks, is expected to stay in the Dominican until Christmas.

--RHP Kameron Loe was waived for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. The Rangers were expected to complete a deal to sell Loe's rights to a Japanese team. Loe was 19-23 with a 4.77 ERA in 107 games for the Rangers over the past five seasons.

--According to sources, Rangers minor league pitching coordinator Rick Adair is in line to become Seattle's bullpen coach. Going into Thanksgiving, though, GM Jon Daniels said he had not been officially contacted by Seattle for permission for the club to speak with Adair. Seattle's new manager, Don Wakamatsu, was on the Rangers' staff from 2003-07.

BY THE NUMBERS: .775 -- Career on-base-plus-slugging percentage in 80 games for 3B Travis Metcalf, who figures to be the front-runner to start at third base this season if the Rangers don't acquire someone else to play the position.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Usually when people say 'change of scenery,' it means they weren't happy with the way they were playing. The consistency wasn't there, but I was putting some things together at the end of the year. I think another opportunity to show what I can do will be good for me." -- Recently acquired OF Greg Golson on the "change of scenery" deal in which the Rangers and Phillies swapped disappointing first-round picks. Philadelphia received OF John Mayberry Jr.
