Texas Rangers Notes, Quotes 2008-05-29
--The Rangers will meet to discuss a couple of roster situations. The club will activate RHP Kevin Millwood for Friday's start against Oakland and will have to remove a pitcher to make room for him. Both manager Ron Washington and general manager Jon Daniels said they would be comfortable keeping RHP Doug Mathis in a long relief role. The Rangers' decision likely comes down to optioning either Mathis or RHP Kameron Loe to Class AAA Oklahoma.

--SS Michael Young extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a third-inning double, but Young hasn't exactly been hot during the streak. He's batting .261 in the streak.

--2B Ian Kinsler has been perfect in 15 stolen-base attempts this season and 21 straight dating back to last year.

--Though they have won two of their last three day games, Wednesday's loss dropped the Rangers to 5-12 in day games this season.

--After their first off day in two weeks, the Rangers begin their longest homestand of the season. They play 10 games against Oakland (three), Cleveland (four) and Tampa Bay (three). To date, the Rangers have played more road games (32) than any team in the AL.

BY THE NUMBERS: 14 -- Times DH/OF Milton Bradley has been ejected in his career, through May 25. Bradley picked up two ejections in a three-day span on the road trip by arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpires Jeff Nelson and Dale Scott. Manager Ron Washington was also ejected after one of Bradley's arguments for defending his outfielder.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "When you draft a player, especially a high school player, you take a chance. They are so young and you don't know what choices they are going to make. I didn't see what happened to me happening and I know they didn't. But with kids, it's hard to predict what choices they will make. I'm grateful they drafted me and grateful they gave me the opportunity. There was a while where I felt like they gave up on me, but when personnel changed, they gave me a second chance. But it wasn't meant to be for me to be there. If it was, I'd be there now." -- Rangers CF Josh Hamilton, discussing his star-crossed career with Tampa Bay, which made him the No. 1 pick in the 1999 draft only to watch him struggle with substance abuse and ultimately be suspended from baseball for three years.
