--RHP Vicente Padilla became the first Rangers starter to strike out 10 batters this year. RHP Kevin Millwood had 10 last June at Cincinnati. --With RHP Kevin Millwood set to rejoin the rotation Friday, manager Ron Washington said the rest of the staff would each get an extra day of rest. RHP Scott Feldman will pitch Saturday, followed by RHP Sidney Ponson, RHP Vicente Padilla and LHP Kason Gabbard.
--After seeing Rangers orthopedist Keith Meister and a hand specialist on Tuesday, 3B Hank Blalock received a cortisone injection to battle inflammation and soreness from carpal tunnel syndrome in his right wrist. When Blalock is ready to play again, it appears he'll first have to do so in the minor leagues on a rehab assignment. "If he's ready to play when we get home, we'll sit down and make a decision about where he can go to get some at-bats," manager Ron Washington said. "But our first concern is to get him healthy."
--Manager Ron Washington said the club is considering keeping RHP Doug Mathis as a long reliever even after RHP Kevin Millwood is activated. The Rangers will have to option out somebody, and the choices appear to be Mathis, RHP Josh Rupe or RHP Kameron Loe. Rupe and Loe have pitched in relief exclusively this season; Mathis has been primarily a starter.
BY THE NUMBERS: 14 -- Times DH/OF Milton Bradley has been ejected in his career, through May 25. Bradley picked up two ejections in a three-day span on the road trip by arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpires Jeff Nelson and Dale Scott. Manager Ron Washington was also ejected after one of Bradley's arguments for defending his outfielder.
