Rangerszone.com | Texas Rangers News, rangers Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --RHP Jamey Wright, who got the victory with two-thirds of an inning of relief, appeared in his 74th game Tuesday. It tied the club record for right-handers held by Dale Mohorcic (1987). Mohorcic pitched 99 2/3 innings that season, all in relief; Wright has pitched 83 1/3, also all in relief.
--DH Milton Bradley had four plate appearances to move within five of qualifying for the batting title. Bradley was 3-for-3 and was hit by a pitch on the heels of going 2-for-3 Monday after a 14-at-bat hitless streak. He has raised his batting average back to .323, third in the AL. Minnesota C Joe Mauer leads the league at .329, and Boston 2B Dustin Pedroia is second at .324. Bradley has 497 plate appearances; another three will earn him a $500,000 incentive bonus. He's already earned about $750,000 in incentive clauses. --RHP Frank Francisco pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his fifth save in as many attempts since moving into the closer's role. Though he did allow an inherited runner to score earlier this month, he has not been charged with a run in a month. In that span, he's pitched 11 2/3 innings in 12 games and has 20 strikeouts to just four walks. He's allowed just three hits.
--INF Ramon Vazquez is still awaiting word from Major League Baseball on whether he will be fined for charging out of the dugout to confront umpires after being ejected from Saturday's game. A suspension likely would knock Vazquez out of the final series of the season.
--The Rangers will close out the home season with a total attendance of less than 1.95 million. It will be the smallest home attendance in the 15-year history of Rangers Ballpark. The Rangers last drew fewer fans in 1988. Attendance will be down about 400,000 from last season.
BY THE NUMBERS: 55 -- Players used by the Rangers this year, which is a club record, shattering the mark of 52. Brian Gordon, who made his major league debut in a 17-4 loss to Detroit on Sept. 17, became No. 55.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's very possible in my career that I'll have another injury like this. I think I will know how to deal with it and get through it. But, having said that, the injuries are no excuse for my performance. I expect to be more productive than I have been." -- SS Michael Young, on dealing with a pair of fractured bones in fingers on each hand that will prevent him from a sixth consecutive season of 200 hits and a batting average of at least .300.
