--RHP Frank Francisco pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his fifth save in as many attempts since moving into the closer's role. Though he did allow an inherited runner to score earlier this month, he has not been charged with a run in a month. In that span, he's pitched 11 2/3 innings in 12 games and has 20 strikeouts to just four walks. He's allowed just three hits.

--INF Ramon Vazquez is still awaiting word from Major League Baseball on whether he will be fined for charging out of the dugout to confront umpires after being ejected from Saturday's game. A suspension likely would knock Vazquez out of the final series of the season.

--The Rangers will close out the home season with a total attendance of less than 1.95 million. It will be the smallest home attendance in the 15-year history of Rangers Ballpark. The Rangers last drew fewer fans in 1988. Attendance will be down about 400,000 from last season.

BY THE NUMBERS: 55 -- Players used by the Rangers this year, which is a club record, shattering the mark of 52. Brian Gordon, who made his major league debut in a 17-4 loss to Detroit on Sept. 17, became No. 55.
