The biggest news of the Rangers' off day was that the Hall of Fame came calling, looking for some memorabilia from Ian Kinsler's historic game on a historic day.
In addition to hitting for the cycle on Wednesday night -- on Jackie Robinson Day -- Kinsler had six hits, five runs and four RBIs. He set the club record for hits in a nine-inning game and tied the team record for runs. It was appropriate the feat was accomplished on the day baseball honored Robinson, the kind of player who embodied strength and speed.
"Honestly, it's more special on Jackie Robinson Day," Kinsler said after the game. "He's a guy that could do everything in the game. He could hit triples, home runs, steal bases, drive people in, score runs. He could do everything offensively. It was kind of a weird thing that I'm playing second on Jackie Robinson Day and that happens."
The Hall has asked for some memorabilia. It probably won't be his jersey, though, because that was signed and will be put up for a charitable auction. It's unlikely to be either the ball from the sixth hit or the ball that completed the cycle because Kinsler is keeping them.
