Rangerszone.com | Texas Rangers News, rangers Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - Tech is a better fit
for Billy Gillispie Re. "Gillispie is available, SMU - call him," Jean-Jacques Taylor column, April 1
While I agree with Taylor that SMU would be better served with Billy Gillispie as its basketball coach, Billy Clyde doesn't strike me as a man with a "Dallas-sized" ego. I'd say it's more like "Texas-sized," which would make him a good fit at Texas Tech, a school that has considerable experience dealing with coaches that are, to use Taylor's term, "loose cannons."
If Tech hasn't fired the first broadside by calling Gillispie already, I'll be surprised if they don't.

No magic wand
for Rangers pitching
We are upon Rangers opening day, folks. Are we to expect the same old ride this year? Probably so.
Just take a look at the spring statistics, and they tell it all. Yes, the offense is doing the job and looks to be very good. However, all of our proposed starting pitchers have an ERA pushing five runs or above this spring.
I guess everyone thinks a magic wand will be waved and their arms will "come to life" once the regular season starts. Let's get real. We will be out of the race by Memorial Day. Why should we expect anything different?

Rangers alone
showing promise
The state of local professional sports is changing. The Cowboys bombed out, the Mavericks are withering away, the Stars' injuries imploded the team and FC Dallas looks bad. I never thought I would say this, but the Rangers are the only team showing promise. Within the next two years, they could become rather good. Nolan Ryan has had a good influence on the team. With all the other teams declining, let's hope the Rangers can continue to improve.
Ronald Paris, McKinney
Cowboys could use
class act Moats
Memo to Jerry Jones: It's been a long time since the Cowboys had a class act on their roster who fans of all stripes could look up to. Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats has proven himself to be that type of individual. Why don't you work on obtaining his services for the Cowboys?
