That's really an amazing stat for a guy who is one of the top clutch hitters in the game.

"I've never been on deck for a walk off home run, so I'm looking at it and everyone jumped out of the dugout, so I dumped my stuff and went over there. Michael is a big-time player. In a situation like that, you want him at the plate. He makes something happen and he did today."

Young hit a fastball off Kyle Farnsworth, the second pitch he saw in the at-bat. The win comes at a critical time for the Rangers . They avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Royals and will try to carry a little momentum on the road. They head off tomorrow afternoon for a 7-game trip to Toronto and Baltimore.

"It was important," Young said. "We needed a win. It was a team win, most importantly. The bullpen came in and did a great job, we played good defense when we needed to and hopefully we can use it as momentum."

It was also important for Chris Davis to get a big hit. He's been struggling so far this season -- .158 average coming in to Sunday's game -- and was given the day off. He came up to pinch hit with two outs and two on in the eighth and hit a single to score the tying run.

"It picks me up a little bit," Davis said. "I talked to Wash earlier today and he sat me down and told me to relax and told me he had confidence in me and that picked me up before the game. He told me to get my mind right. It's something I can build off of and I was really happy with the at-bat."
