 Apr. 24, 2009 (The Dallas Morning News delivered by Newstex ) -- Kris Benson was with the Baltimore Orioles from 2004 to 2006, and he still has ties to the community. He and his wife, Anna, were part of a pregame ceremony in which they, along with the Orioles Charitable Foundation, donated $125,000 to five area charties. The Bensons will give more Sunday, presenting $125,000 to the Baltimore police department. The Bensons created Benson's Battalion Foundation shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks while he was a member of the New York Mets. The Foundation's goal is to help purchase equipment local police and fire departments need to combat terrrorism.
